Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question about women's health and pelvic care? Here are the questions we hear most often from patients, with honest answers from our team.
No. Pelvic floor problems can affect women at any life stage — teenagers, athletes, perimenopausal women, and elderly women. Pregnancy and childbirth are common causes, but not the only ones.
Your therapist will take a full history and may perform an internal examination (with your full informed consent) to assess the strength, coordination, and tone of your pelvic floor muscles. You can decline any part of the assessment.
Yes. Stress urinary incontinence (leaking when you cough, sneeze, or exercise) is one of the most treatable conditions in physiotherapy. Most women see significant improvement with a structured pelvic floor programme.
You can start gentle physiotherapy — including breathing and deep core activation — within days of delivery. A full pelvic floor assessment is typically recommended at 6-8 weeks postpartum, or sooner if you have significant symptoms.
We do our best to accommodate this preference. Please let us know when booking and we will ensure you are seen by a female physiotherapist.
